Trip The Light 2012 – Call For Music!

Dance in the Annex (DITA) & ArtPeers invite local composers/musicians/song-writers to submit original pieces of music for the next Trip The Light event, to take place May 11th & 12th, 2012 at Wealthy Theatre. Submission deadline is 1/15/12.

Trip The Light, now in its third year, combines original and local modern dance choreography, music and performance – all coming together onstage at Wealthy Theatre.

Due to the overwhelming success of previous years’ Trip The Light, we’re adding a second performance in 2012. All dancers, musicians and performers will need to schedule two nights with TBA rehearsal times.

Past musicians include; Ritsu Katsumata, Ribbons of Song, Charles the Osprey, Paucity, Lights at Sea, Alexis and The Crane Wives – just to name a few.

Music can be from any time period and genre, created in West Michigan. It’ll need to be performed live. We’re looking to push the boundaries of composition and diversity: the possibilities are limitless.

Musicians will work closely with choreographers and must be open for collaboration.

Musicians who have performed in previous Trip The Light events are welcome to submit.

A technical rehearsal will take place the weekend before the weekend of performances (details TBA.) The show will be video-taped and photographed. Performance pay will again be divided in equal shares and dependent on sponsorship and profits from the shows.

Music may be submitted digitally by email to dita@danceintheannex.com – alternatively, music can be sent via URL or embed code (email). Musicians are encouraged to submit a maximum of three songs, selecting those that seem to apply best – and could be performed live to great effect.
